Summary
MasterControl is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Cloud Software Architect. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide full application and system architectures and development lifecycle processes that translate business requirements into functioning software systems, services, and solutions aligned to our application portfolio. Strong knowledge of application development, database design, and systems implementation is required, as this role is a software architect for SaaS Cloud software, crafting technical solutions to solve complex business needs. This position reports to the VP of Engineering within the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) organization.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with other architects to develop software architectures/designs that are in line with the MasterControl architectural vision and review alternative solutions for best fit.
  • Results-oriented, skilled in decision making and problem-solving, and comfortable working in a fluid team environment.
  • Able to balance tradeoffs between requirements, speed, cost, and reliability in the choice of a design approach.
  • A strong ability to translate business requirements into technical architectures/solutions.
  • Skilled in designing highly available and scalable applications with responsibility for infrastructure and platform robustness.
  • Act as a mentor in leading team members thru architectural designs, development methodologies, tools, approaches, and accelerators to deliver the highest value software solutions.
  • Act as leader and facilitator with stakeholders, development teams, and product owners to create and finalize end-to-end technical solutions.
  • Provide broad technical and functional knowledge of key technologies and platforms.
  • Prepare and maintain technical design documentation, diagrams, and detailed project plans.
  • Focus on the evaluation, design, customization, and optimization of our Cloud-based SaaS solutions. Team with various groups to pursue and deliver solutions that will bring our strategy and products to life.
  • Develop Architecture/Designs/Automation Plans and lead planning and development for SaaS cloud solutions.
  • Work with feature teams regularly to provide guidance, and technical direction, and remove roadblocks.
  • Perform work, including requirements/architecture/design, on a feature before engaging with a feature team.
  • Expertise in architecting and developing highly reliable, fault-tolerant distributed applications with a focus on performance and scale.
  • Drive a Data First approach thru integrating data and technical system enhancements.
Core Competencies
  • RESTful APIs, such as OpenAPI/Swagger, JSON, YAML, etc.
  • AWS Services, including S3, SQS, SNS, EC2, Route53, IAM, and CLI.
  • SQL/NoSQL Databases for example SQL Server, Mongo, AWS RDS, DynamoDB, and DocumentDB.
  • Familiarity with Container Orchestration like Kubernetes, AWS ECS, and AWS EKS.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Infrastructure and Application Monitoring like Splunk, SignalFx, and New Relic.
  • Practical knowledge of a broad range of information technology domains including server virtualization, storage systems, application delivery systems, networking, security, software development, process automation, authentication, and authorization systems.
Basic Qualifications
  • BS level technical degree in CS (preferred MS)
  • 10+ years of large-scale software development or application engineering with recent coding experience in two or more modern programming languages such as Java, C/C++, C#, JavaScript, Node.js, React, and Angular.
  • Minimum 5 years of software architect experience with end-to-end platforms, Cloud and Data architectures, and SOA systems.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
  • Demonstrated experience using application integration or SOA design patterns and a working knowledge of the cloud architecture and building product solutions in one or more of the following cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) with a focus on operational stability and flexibility.
  • Experience architecting highly available systems that utilize load balancing, horizontal scalability, and high availability.
  • Ability to think and act both strategically and tactically.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, as well as effective presentation skills.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $200,000-$250,000 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
