Where you’ll work:
This is a hybrid role and requires in-office collaboration two times per week. (Los Angeles / Palo Alto)

The Team and Role:
The Tinder Integrity team is responsible for systems, algorithms, and policies that keep Tinder and its members safe. It is a multidisciplinary team of engineers, ML practitioners, product managers, analysts, and policy experts.

Our Anti Abuse team is responsible for proactively identifying, investigating and mitigating scaled abuse and other threats to the integrity of Tinder. The team works cross-functionally to design, build, test, and implement automated detection signals and algorithms that accurately and effectively target bad actors at scale.

In this role, you will:

  • Be on the front lines of addressing emerging threats by participating in an on-call rotation, providing incident response and triage, implementing algorithm updates, and executing timely actions to mitigate abuse and protect the platform at scale.
  • Proactively identify and disrupt scaled abuse threats prevalent on the platform through enhancements and updates to automated detection systems.
  • Monitor emerging anomalies in Tinder’s core KPIs (such as user activity) to identify and mitigate the root causes of malicious behavior.
  • Leverage data mining and threat intelligence to track and profile persistent abuse threats and trends, linking their activity to KPIs and enabling targeted strategies.
  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Product and Policy to strengthen threat detection and remediation strategies.
  • Continually improve our team’s ability to measure impact by partnering with analytics and data science teams to implement and refine metrics to better detect and understand nuanced abuse patterns.

You will need:

  • 1+ year of professional experience in data analytics or data science with a focus on Trust and Safety, Cybersecurity, Anti-Spam, Anti-Abuse, or a related field.
  • Professional experience with Python, SQL, Spark, or similar big data query tools for building data models to support specialized analyses.
  • Familiarity with Python-based analytics environments, such as Databricks, and/or with data visualization tools, such as Grafana, Mode, and Tableau.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, especially to executive and non-subject-matter-expert audiences.

Nice to have:

  • BS/MS or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Intelligence Studies, Cybersecurity or related field.
  • Professional experience in creating and maintaining algorithms.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with persistent scaled abuse threat actors.
  • Experience uncovering indicators of abuse and applying creative strategies to mitigate.
  • Experience in leading technical projects and mentoring junior team members.
