Job Summary

May Mobility is seeking a Senior Business Development Manager II with extensive experience in partnering with public transit agencies, cities, and/or other public sector organizations. You will help grow May’s government sector business and manage end to end sales from initial lead generation to contract closure. It’s an exciting time to be joining a passionate team committed to bringing safe, accessible, and sustainable autonomous vehicle technology and transportation to communities. May Mobility has achieved strong growth and partnership in the government sector this past year as well as completed its Series D round of funding. 

 

You will report to the Senior Director of Government Business and will work cross functionally with internal stakeholders across Customer Success, Operations, Product, Legal, Policy, Marketing, and Engineering.  You are an excellent oral and written communicator and you possess an analytical approach to business development, leveraging data to drive decisions. You are highly organized and have the ability to work closely and constructively cross-functionally in teams. Youre particularly adept at developing strong, one-to-one relationships and possess a track record of successful negotiations and collaborations.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Be responsible and accountable for aggressive sales targets in your territory and the performance against it 
  • Educate and energize public sector decision makers and stakeholders on autonomous technology; work alongside a city or transit agency partner to help support the partner’s short term and long term strategic goals
  • Consistently build a qualified pipeline and scalable processes for a fast- changing environment; comfortably and confidently lean into emerging mobility trends and create new ones 
  • Be able to understand the unique needs of and generate consensus amongst multiple stakeholders who are critical to embracing autonomous vehicle technology and service 
  • Generate strategic proposals, comply to federal, state and local regulatory guidelines, negotiate and close contracts 
  • Build and deepen relationships through community engagement, industry events, demonstrations, and webinars 
  • Work with internal stakeholders to align client needs with company timelines and roadmaps 
  • Drive decisions through data scrutinization and acute market awareness
  • Optimize sales tools such as CRM, Google suite, LinkedIn and HubSpot for lead generation and pipeline development 
  • Identify and create processes and assemble people needed to ensure partnership for success 
  • Initiate and lead meetings with internal and external partners

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates most successful in this role typically hold the following qualifications or comparable knowledge or experience:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in enterprise sales and business development preferably in the government sector
  • Have negotiated and closed multi-million dollars and multi-year contracts
  • Have demonstrable big “wins” and continuous pipeline growth from prior roles
  • Experience working with transportation, autonomous technology, mobility, and/or micro-transit 
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills across multiple platforms and strong collaboration skills 

Desirable

  • Understanding and success with transportation and government grants

Physical Requirements

  • Standard office working conditions which includes but is not limited to:
    • Prolonged sitting
    • Prolonged standing
    • Prolonged computer use

Travel required? -  Frequent: 26%-50%
