We are seeking a Remote Field Engineer to ensure the optimal performance of Deeplisten collection systems across the U.S. and Canada, maintaining a reliability rate of 99% or better. This role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and upgrading hardware and software systems, coordinating site relocations, and maintaining inventory. The ideal candidate will have civilian or military technical training, strong problem-solving skills, and experience with PC hardware repairs, software installations, RF reception, and data communications. Responsibilities include responding to alerts, coordinating third-party maintenance, and being on-call as needed for 24/7 support, including travel on short notice. This position requires strong communication skills, the ability to lift up to 150 pounds, work on rooftops, and maintain professional interactions with clients and vendors. A valid driver’s license is required.

We are looking for a Remote Field Engineer with experience in the following areas:

  • Civilian or military technical training. 
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem isolation skills. 
  • A working knowledge of the following areas: 
    • PC Operation including diagnosis & repair to board level of hardware 
    • Software installation & setup on hard drives & bios or firmware upgrades
    • Basic setup & programming of routers, & VPN firewalls 
    • RF reception for radio and television (General antenna theory). 
    • General understanding of cable signal operation. 
    • Antenna cabling and signal distribution. 
    • General basic electronics. 
    • Use of some power and hand tools. 
    • Basic electronic test instruments. 
  • Strong communication skills 

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • On a daily basis, use “Logicmonitor”, PR_Web”, “Slack” and “Gmail” to see and be alerted to issues, troubleshoot and repair local site problems. 
  • Field alerts from the “Pager Duty” on a daily basis and resolve these problems in an expeditious manner. 
  • Perform onsite or remote repairs on Local Sites using a third party maintenance vendor or local site contact. 
  • Maintain and keep current, a parts inventory database. 
  • Ship parts, or have parts ordered and shipped, for repair of Local Sites, using the most timely and cost effective method. 
  • Be in an “On-call” status, in an interdepartmental rotation, with other employees. This is on a 24/7 basis for the maintenance and repair of Local Site hardware problems, which includes weekends and holidays. 
  • Travel to various cities, as necessary, possibly on less than 24-hour notice. 
  • Troubleshoot and repair the data communications network using data communications vendor or third-party maintenance. 
  • Coordinate necessary moves of Local Sites, which includes, but is not limited to, site selection, rent negotiations, power installation, climate control as necessary, signal installation, data communication installation, and the physical relocation of Mediaradar equipment. Perform any other duties as deemed necessary by the Field Operations manager.

ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES: 

  • Must be able to lift 75lbs 
  • Must be able to climb ladders and perform work on rooftops. 
  • Must have a valid drivers license 
  • Must be able to acquire passport 

CUSTOMER/CLIENT CONTACT AND INTERACTION: 

  • This position requires constant telephone work with local contacts, potential landlords, cable companies, television stations, and other individuals outside of the company. At all times the incumbent should present a positive, professional company image and demeanor. 
  • In all contacts, both internal and external, the incumbent must be persuasive, yet diplomatic, while at all times keeping Company needs and interests as the ultimate goal. When traveling, a positive professional attitude, appearance, and demeanor must be presented at all times. The Field Engineer is probably the only person that the contacts in these cities will meet from the company.
