A Day in the Life
As a Mazor Clinical Consultant at Medtronic, you will play a vital role in providing clinical, technical, and product knowledge support to both current and prospective customers. You will work closely with medical professionals to ensure they are well-equipped with the knowledge and tools needed to utilize Medtronics NeuroSurgery/Navigation/Robotic Assisted Surgery products and services effectively. Building and maintaining strong customer relationships is key, as you’ll serve as a trusted advisor, helping healthcare providers deliver the best patient care possible. This position requires a commitment to following all Quality System and Business Conduct Standards (BCS).
This is a field-based role where you will be interacting with healthcare providers in various clinical settings, including operating rooms, offering hands-on technical support and product expertise.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
Sales Support
Collaborates with regional robotics teams, Spinal Sales, and neurosurgery teams to identify and engage potential new users for Robotics and other applicable technology-enabled procedures. Your efforts will be focused on increasing technology adoption and utilization in clinical practices.
Actively participates in sales meetings, regional and national training programs, industry conventions, and trade shows to stay updated on the latest innovations and to build relationships with key stakeholders in the industry.
Submits timely and accurate reports and provide requested information as needed to ensure the successful execution of Medtronic’s goals.
Supports complex image-guided products during their introduction and implementation in hospitals, ensuring that both physicians and hospital staff are fully trained and confident in their use.
Works in close coordination with the Mazor Area Manager to prioritize technical support and service goals, ensuring customer satisfaction.
Provides in-field feedback and insights on new product development, contributing valuable information to improve Medtronic’s offerings.
Handles documentation processes for new or existing installations, ensuring seamless integration into hospital systems.
Technical Support
Acts as the go-to resource for on-site installations of robotic systems, coordinating efforts with Robotics Area Managers and other members of the Enabling Technologies team to ensure smooth and timely setup.
Represents Medtronic during technology-enabled procedures, providing real-time technical assistance and ensuring the proper functioning of systems during critical surgeries.
Performs regular system maintenance, including hardware and software updates, to maximize the performance of installed systems and ensure the highest level of functionality during clinical use.
Customer Support
Serves as the primary Medtronic customer liaison for clinical case support and help increase system utilization by providing the necessary technical knowledge and resources.
Addresses customer concerns and issues promptly, and communicate any important market opportunities to the regional team.
Maintains a high level of customer service by staying up to date on customer site calls, issues, and their resolutions.
Collaborates with Customer Service Managers (CSM) and National Response Centers (NRC) to report and resolve any complaints or service issues effectively, ensuring complete customer satisfaction.
Educational Support
Provide in-depth training to physicians, operating room staff, and other hospital personnel (including Radiology, Central Sterile Processing, Biomedical Engineering, and IT) on the technical and practical aspects of Medtronics technology-enabled procedures.
Offer ongoing education and serve as a clinical resource for surgeons and clinicians throughout the product lifecycle.
Regularly update customers on best practices, tips, shortcuts, and suggestions to ensure efficient and effective use of Medtronic’s systems.
Conduct train-the-trainer sessions, empowering hospital staff to train their colleagues, ensuring sustained internal expertise and system proficiency.
Continuously train members of the Enabling Technologies Clinical Support team on the latest developments and advancements in Medtronics technology-enabled procedures.
Miscellaneous Responsibilities
Adhere to company policies, conducting all business in an ethical and compliant manner, in line with Medtronic’s core values.
Be open to adapting and evolving responsibilities based on new technologies and customer needs.
Qualifications
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of 6 years of experience in clinical, medical sales, or medical imaging/navigation/robotics experience; or
Associate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of experience in clinical, medical sales, or medical imaging/navigation/robotics experience; or
Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience in clinical, medical sales, or medical imaging/navigation/robotics experience.
Nice to Have: Preferences
RT and/or MRI certification
Experience with Image Guided Systems
Prior operating room experience, particularly in a technical support or clinical role
Familiarity with MRI systems or similar medical imaging technologies
Additional Job Requirements
Ability to be independently mobile, with regular requirements to stand, walk, and use hands for various tasks.
Must be capable of frequently lifting and moving up to 50 pounds.
Must interact with computer systems for extended periods of time and communicate effectively with peers, customers, and co-workers.
Valid driver’s license and active vehicle insurance are required for this position, as travel will be necessary to visit customers and provide on-site support. Your driving record will be reviewed and will be considered as part of your application.
