A Day in the Life
The Cardiac Ablation Solutions (CAS) business is a major growth business within the Cardiovascular Portfolio at Medtronic. CAS technologies help restore health and improve the lives of patients around the world living with cardiac arrhythmias.The communications program manager is a motivated, strategic collaborator with a proven ability to work cross functionally to develop and drive communications plans to support both internal and external business priorities. This individual must be passionate about the ability of strategic communications to educate external stakeholders and inform, unite and motivate internal audiences. They must be comfortable working in a dynamic, change-agile environment and have deep domain expertise across public relations, social media, internal communications and integrated communications.
This individual will report to the Sr. Director of Communications for CAS and work closely with a cross functional CAS team as well as the broader cardiovascular communications team and corporate communications to support integrated communications programming for CAS. Must possess an outstanding attention to detail with a strong bias for action.
This role reports to the Senior Director, Communications, Cardiac Ablation Solutions. Preferred location in Minneapolis, MN.
Day in the life:
Develop and execute communication programs for the CAS operating unit, collaborating with Integrated Marketing, Digital/Social Media, Corporate Communications, Human Resources functions, as appropriate. Liaise with U.S. commercial team and global regions on communications efforts including internal and external announcements.
Identify and develop steady cadence of content to engage stakeholders with the latest CAS news including clinical data, product milestones and events.
Develop and execute integrated plans in partnership with communications colleagues across Medtronic and global regions, to support programs including select product launches, healthcare congresses and other critical events and special projects.
Executes the writing, editing and approval of event scripts, speeches, key documents and reports, promotional materials, press releases, interviews, FAQs and other external and internal communications vehicles as defined.
Analyzes the effectiveness of communications efforts, governs and improves existing processes, and incorporates new technology and techniques to improve our communications with key stakeholders.
Manages communications contractors and external agencies to support projects as needed.
Must Have:
Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years in a communications role within a corporate or agency setting; OR Advanced Degree with 3+ years of experience
Nice to Have:
Experience in cardiovascular or healthcare (i.e. regulated industry like medical device, pharma or biotech)
Experience in public relations (agency), corporate communications, journalism, or related field
Excellent research, writing and editing skills
Experience in change management communications
Exceptional verbal, writing, editing and organizational skills
Strong attention to detail
Executive presence and the ability to interact with leaders across the function and manage information with high levels of discretion
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the organization, including understanding and previous experience working in a matrix environment
