A Day in the Life
The Mechanical Engineer for Medtronic NEUROMODULATION/PELVIC HEALTH RPE will be responsible for device hardware design for market released implantable Neurostimulation devices and instruments. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional partners such as reliability, regulatory, operations, and sourcing colleagues to evaluate and implement design changes. Represent the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects.Position Responsibilities:
Researches, plans, designs, verifies, validates, and develops mechanical and electromechanical products and systems, such as metals, instruments, controls, plastics, robots, engines, machines, and mechanical, resonance, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy.
Interact with personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations
Identifies and oversees testing required to obtain necessary data to support field actions, regulatory renewals, submissions and deficiency responses
Provide critical evaluation manufacturing and supplier change impact on fielded products
Initiates change activity (CA) to modify maintain design documentation (BOM’s, Specs, drawings)
Supports CAPA’s (Corrective & Preventive Actions) and RPI’s (Released Product Investigations) including possible CAPA ownership
Provides RPE input to new product development teams
Recommends various technology options or approaches for system, processes, facility, or program improvements regarding safety, performance, efficiency, or costs.
May be responsible for the transfer from R&D to manufacturing.
Interact with personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or scientific discipline and 2+ years’ experience in technical design and testing or engineering experience
OR Advanced Degree in engineering or scientific discipline.
Nice to Have:
Able to work effectively and proactively on cross-functional teams.
Ability to clearly document work, articulate and present ideas and tests results to a variety of audiences.
Experience with concept design, prototyping and evaluation
Demonstrated ability for independent work
Strong organization, prioritization, and communication skills.
Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others.
