A Day in the Life
Position Description:
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Defines and executes Executive Development strategy for VP+ leaders in the company up through C-suite.
Develops mechanisms, programs, and initiatives that build executive leadership capability to define, cascade, and execute company strategies, accelerate business performance, and foster an “AND” company of both a mission AND performance-driven culture.
Enhances executive leadership capability to manage talent through tools, processes, and development.
Enable successful transitions for leadership with tools and processes such as such as leadership development programs, new executive on-boarding, and executive coaching.
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONAL CAREER STREAM: Management and supervisory professionals with one or more employees who are focused on tactical, operational, and some strategic activities within a specified area. The majority of time is spent overseeing their area of responsibility, managing performance, developing talent, engagement and inclusion, communicating business and operational developments, planning, prioritizing and / or directing the responsibilities of direct reports. Goal achievement is typically accomplished through performance of direct and / or indirect reports. A key responsibility of roles in this career stream is managing people, which includes: Accountability for mentoring, developing and coaching staff on meeting/exceeding performance expectations and defined objectives, providing leadership to staff ensuring the prioritization of strategic and department level initiatives to include defining performance goals and targets, conducting performance reviews, and staff 1:1s to guide performance management and employee development efforts and manage toward departmental goals.
DIFFERENTIATING FACTORS
Autonomy: Oversees and manages Executive Development and leads across multiple Global Talent (GT) and HR functions to coordinate with Foundational Leadership Development and HiPo Leadership Development. Provides clear strong leadership on future direction. Performs work without appreciable direction.
Organizational Impact: Leads the development of the corporate strategy for Executive Development. Accountable for achievement of overall Executive Development outcomes and ultimately impacts business performance. Demonstrates management authority to make significant business and strategic decisions. Decisions impact the financial performance, employees, or public image of the company. Responsible for budget or P&L accountability for Executive Development under the Global Learning & Leadership Development umbrella.
Innovation and Complexity: Champions innovation across the company, recommending programs or projects and conceptualizing and developing new approaches. Problems and issues faced are complex, undefined and impact multiple businesses or functions, where information is typically difficult to obtain and extensive investigation to understand the root cause of problems is required.
Communication and Influence: Identifies, initiates, establishes and develops long-term, strategic relationships and alliances with executive
leaders regarding critical business initiatives. Influences across functions and businesses to negotiate and gain cooperation on divergent objectives.
Leadership and Talent Management: Directs and develops Executive Development team and leads across multiple functions, to include portfolios across Global Learning & Leadership Development (GLLD), Global Inclusion, Diversity, and & Equity (GIDE), Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, HR, and the business. Determines organizational structure and develops talent strategies. Develops management team to support strategic objectives. Authorizes hiring, firing, promotion and reward within Executive Development.
Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires advanced management and leadership knowledge to lead cross-department project teams or manage across multiple functions. Has achieved specific mastery in Executive Development and more broadly in Leadership Development. Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A) in HR, business, Leadership Development, or related field and minimum of 15 years of relevant experience. Master’s or PhD in leadership development, industrial/organizational psychology, or business administration is ideal, but not required. Candidate should have 10+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum 13 years’ prior relevant experience, minimum of 10 years of managerial experience in similar or related field.
