A DAY IN THE LIFE

We are seeking an experienced SAP technologist to lead the SAP Development and Delivery capability in the SAP COE.

The role will report to the VP of Global Functions & SAP COE (GFSAP) and be a key member of the leadership team to drive implementation of AI solutions and digital transformation using SAP technology. 

The role will bring SAP technology and implementation experience and expertise to the existing SAP ECC environment and in the transition to S4. 

This hands-on technology leader will be responsible for the strategy, execution, and governance of SAP Development and Delivery within the SAP COE.

The role will :

  • Manage and deliver ABAP development team in the current ECC environment and deliver key current projects and programs

  • Plan and execute the code migration to S/4 including the transition to clean core using the BTP application development platform

  • Implement SAP IS for SAP to SAP integrations.

Additionally, this role is responsible for planning and executing a successful SAP Archiving program (using SAP ILM, Opentext archive) to shrink the existing +40TB SAP single instance to ensure current system performance and prepare S/4 migration.

The role will be responsible for building an on and offshore team to support these initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The role will lead the preparation, execution, and transition of ECC to S/4 with the goal of moving to clean core .

  • Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for SAP Development and Archiving in the existing SAP ECC environment and plan the move to S/4.

  • Hands on manager of the SAP Development team and including ABAP, SAP IS, and Application Development in BTP.

  • Lead the transition to a new SAP S4 environment, including custom code cleanup, simplification using standard features, and moving to S4 clean core.

  • Direct the S4 preparation archiving initiative to significantly reduce SAP database DB2 size through SAP archiving using SAP ILM and Opentext Archive tools.

  • Implement AI technologies in SAP development and archiving to reduce costs and transition time to SAP S4.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with infrastructure, architecture, and functional leaders and teams to drive results.

  • Manage large-scale implementations and effectively manage system integrators using fixed price delivery models to help ensure successful outcomes.

  • Build and lead offshore teams of developers and technologists to support the SAP COE development and archiving teams and initiatives.

MUST HAVE (Minimum Qualifications):

  • 15+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 13+ years of experience with an advanced degree.

  • 10+ years of managerial experience

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Strongly Preferred:

  • 15+ years hands-on experience implementing and managing global SAP ECC and S/4 applications in large global environments and organizations.

  • 10+ years hands on technologist and expert in SAP development languages and platforms. (SAP ABAP, BTP application development, SAP IS integration)

  • S/4 migration and implementation experience from a single instance using brownfield, bluefield, and/or greenfield approaches.

  • Techno/functional experience of global end to end processes.

  • Experienced in planning and executing options in SAP that support mergers, acquisitions and divestitures/carveouts.

  • Proven track record of leading technology development teams and driving cross-divisional initiatives in a matrix organization.

  • Highly organized, outcome-oriented, with excellent planning and project management skills.

  • Exceptional leadership, presence, and executive communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Strong influencing and diplomacy skills, with the ability to lead and drive change collaboratively and positively.

  • Self-starter with a results-driven mindset and the ability to lead through ambiguity and act with urgency.

  • Innovative thinker with a strategic focus and the aptitude to challenge the status quo.

  • Experience planning fixed price engagements with system implementation vendors to successfully delivery outcomes.

  • Demonstrated financial management of departmental budget and multi-million dollar capital investment projects.

  • Must be a self-starter and results driven.

  • Must be able lead through ambiguity and act with urgency.

  • Excellent leadership, presence, and executive communication skills (written and verbal).

Anticipated travel 10-15% to Medtronic sites.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$198,400.00 - $297,600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
