The Senior Director Distribution & Logistics Strategy is responsible for leading the development and execution of strategic initiatives that enhance distribution efficiency, optimize logistics networks, and drive business growth. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, industry expertise, and leadership abilities to align logistics and distribution strategies with overall enterprise objectives. This position will focus on improving operational performance, drive continuous improvements in efficiency and cost management, and ensure the timely and accurate delivery of products to customers.

*The position reports directly to the VP Global Distribution, Logistics & Trade.

**The locations for this role will be Memphis, TN or within reasonable driving distance; required to be onsite as needed for this role.

A Day in the Life  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive distribution and logistics strategy that aligns with business goals.

  • Lead distribution & logistics footprint optimization initiatives to enable cost optimization across distribution & logistics functions.

  • Lead first time quality (FTQ) workshop to identify critical to quality parameters and implements actions to mitigate risks and to ensure process reliability is built into each step of the receiving, pick, pack and ship part of the process.

  • Drive innovation in logistics, warehousing, and transportation models.

  • Lead cross-functional teams to implement strategic projects and operational improvements.

  • Oversee end-to-end distribution and logistics operations, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

  • Lead technology and innovation deployment and execution within distribution & logistics operations, aligned with enterprise-wide initiatives and playbooks

  • Monitor and refine leading & lagging KPIs for safety, quality, delivery and cost efficiency to drive improvements in service levels to patients & customers.

  • Responsible for strategic partnerships with carriers, third-party logistics (3PL) providers, and technology vendors.

  • Ensures regulatory and quality compliance is cared for as a part of any footprint optimization initiative within distribution and transportation operation and our third-party logistics partners

Must Have: Minimum Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration or a related field.

  • 15+ years of relevant experience and 10+ years managerial experience.

  • Proven track record in leading large-scale distribution & logistics organizations.

  • Deep functional expertise and strong industry knowledge in distribution & logistics and deep understanding of distribution technologies, warehouse management systems (WMS), and transportation management systems (TMS).

  • Strong knowledge of distribution & network design, optimization, systems and processes.

Nice to Have 

  • Experience in implementing distribution & logistics processes within a large, complex organization including integrating industry/market intelligence from different operating entities; distribution / transportation partners; and customers to continuously improve competitive position.

  • Detailed knowledge of sales and distribution models across product portfolio with ability to influence improvements.

  • Supplier relationship management, 3PL management.

  • Operational excellence and continuous improvement/LEAN.

  • Experience in implementing lean across multiple sites and driving culture change.

  • Experience with cost management& optimization in logistics operations.

  • Excellent leadership and project management skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and manage stakeholders at various levels.

  • Analytical mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making.

  • Change agent, balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to build credible relationships with multiple functions and key stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to interact and effectively communicate with executive management and all levels of the organization related to operational changes and strategic initiatives.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$187,200.00 - $280,800.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
