Within CO+I, the Core Datacenter Services (CDS) team is responsible for improving overall availability and efficiency for Microsoft’s cloud business. We have multiple teams focused on both Microsoft and Lessor datacenter performance and all aspects of datacenter utilization effectiveness that includes power, water and labor. We are seeking a Director, Distribution Strategy, Fulfillment & Logistics, to support the Operational Supply Chain across datacenters globally. This role will own developing the strategy to scale and optimize our data center storage and distribution network as well as executing on the vision.

This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Washington, D.C., Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ. 

Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates will need to ​relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location. 

This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to 100%. 

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Business Operations, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field, AND 9+ years’ experience in supply chain distribution & logistics operations, warehouse management, inventory data analysis, and / or experience working with international manufacturers
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of distribution & logistics, fulfillment, warehouse management, 3PL and 4PL management, spares parts planning, inventory management, or supply chain management experience in a large-scale cloud-based technology business or similar industry. 
  • 4+ years of experience in both first- and third-party ERP/MPS/MRP/WMS/TMS systems and inventory control methods, coordinating system shipments, warehousing, transportation, returns, refurbishments, and warranty process.

 

Background Check Requirements: 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

 

While not required, we also look for the following Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree AND 12+ years’ experience in supply chain operations & engineering, product/program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years’ experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 7+ years’ experience in Supply Chain Operations & Finance, Project Management, Supply Chain Management, Reverse Logistics Operations, knowledge of field service operations, and APICS certification.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of cloud infrastructure and datacenter environments such as power, physical space, rack units, cooling, cable routing and management.
  • Proven background in program management methodologies, approaches, and tools (e.g. PMP/Six Sigma certification). 

 

Fulfillment & Logistics IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $129,200 - $273,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $162,000 - $299,400 per year.

Ensure measurement and effectiveness of all internal and external processes throughout all layers of the operational structure. Create reports to demonstrate the success of operational activities, analyze results, report on key metrics, and findings.
  • Supply Chain Management: Escalate and resolve field supply chain issues, prioritize service based on material lead times and availability, track and analyze material consumption trends, review engineering change orders affecting spare parts, ensure HW compatibility for spare parts.
  • Build strong working relationships across multiple disciplines (Sourcing, Finance, Data Center Operations, Suppliers and others), cultivating strategic relationships and influence across the organization.
  • Implement measurement frameworks to enable data-driven decision-making, work independently and be agile in a dynamic and growing environment.
  • Provide expertise needed for departments to collect performance metrics, oversee customer support, and define, lead, and mentor others in direct customer engagements.
