Teams Security team focuses on keeping Microsoft Teams and its users safe and secure – across the full stack and all dimensions. We are seeking a Principal Security Engineer to join our team and help drive security and safety improvements within Microsoft Teams. Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ year of experience in Risk Management, Cyber Security, or related field
    • OR equivalent experience
  • 4+ years experience in application security or a closely related field.

Other Requirements:

 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Computer Science, Risk Management, Cyber Security, or related field
    • OR 7+ years experience in software development lifecycle, large scale computing, cyber security, anomaly detection
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Working experience with JavaScript/Typescript, ReactJS, C++, C# and Azure.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.

  • You’ll help others identify potential security issues, tools, mitigations, and processes. You’ll also coach and mentor others.
  • You’ll solicit input from customers and partners to improve security, and develop analytical tools to study common and uncommon issues. You’ll also address complex security issues, and develop and promote effective feedback channels.
  • You’ll lead large-scale architectural and design security reviews for features areas, developing best practices for each and ensuring they’re in place. You’ll also critically assess the efficiency and effectiveness of reviews, while developing automation to analyze review content.
  • You’ll schedule the security analysis of multiple feature areas, influencing product schedules, dependencies, and risk assessments while doing so, and proactively soliciting input from multiple stakeholders. You’ll also identify when numerous weaknesses make analysis difficult, and support security research of Microsoft products.
