Provide pricing quotes to clients, execute trades and mange risks of the trading portfolio. Deliver on budgeted revenues set for the trading book. Work closely with the technology team to develop and refine advanced quantitative pricing and risk management models required for derivative pricing. Educate prospective clients regarding pricing and the use of mortgage derivatives. Perform detailed P&L attribution and assess how higher order risk parameters change in evolving market conditions and dynamically hedge out non-linear exposures in the portfolio. Apply option theory and option Greek characteristics to identify higher order risks of mortgage derivatives and callable bonds. Maintain awareness of regulatory changes and industry trends. Perform detailed valuations of investments to determine investment opportunities, generate trade ideas and hedging strategies.

 

Salary: Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $225,000 and $250,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.

Requirements:

 

Requires a Master’s degree in Operations Research, Financial Engineering, Mathematics or related field of study and two (2) years of experience in the position offered or two (2) years as an Associate Trader or related occupation. Requires two (2) years of experience with: Agency Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS) trading, including To-Be-Announced (TBA) securities, specified Pools and Collateralized Mortgage Obligations (CMOs); MBS markets including MBS duration, convexity, mortgage prepays, dollar rolls and spread metrics including zero-volatility and option-adjusted spread; Application of macroeconomics and fixed income products including Repo, U.S. government bonds and futures; Interest rate swaps; Python; R; VBA; Yieldbook; Bloomberg; and Tradeweb.
