NBCU Local is reimagining storytelling for the next generation of local news watchers, delivering local content to English and Spanish-speaking audiences in 31 U.S. TV markets and Puerto Rico. We are comprised of NBC Owned Television Stations, NBC Sports Regional Networks and Telemundo Station Group – plus multicast networks COZI TV and TeleXitos, regional cable news network NECN, and 16 free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channels – including 11 NBC local news, four Telemundo regional news channels.
The NBCU Local Technology & Operations organization provides the Technology & Workflow Solutions, Support, Media Operations, Production, Studio and Facilities services that power NBCU Local content creation and distribution.
Job Description
We are looking for an Associate Director to join the Operations team in New York supporting the NY Duopoly stations, WNBC and WNJU. As an Associate Director, you will be primarily responsible for supporting the Director, Producer and production with timing, robotics, and remote cuing. Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare / function check primary and secondary control rooms prior to productions.
- Cross reference show timing including breaks and show elements.
- Cuing talent during productions.
- Communicate with station’s master control hub.
- Communicate and coordinate live hits with Photojournalists.
- Assist Director with operating production automation when necessary.
- Ensure execution in alignment with standard operating procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Required onsite. This position is required to be performed full time onsite from an NBCUniversal designated work site.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, journalism, engineering, radio, television & film, operations, media production, related fields or equivalent experience.
- This position is covered under a collective bargaining agreement between the Company and the Directors Guild of America (DGA). Successful candidate will be required to join the DGA if not already a member and remain a member in good standing of that Guild.
Skills & Experience we are looking for:
- Experience operating television production systems for mid to major market news or live events.
- Expertise with the Ross Overdrive Production Automation, including coding and preparation of rundowns, automation of video switchers, audio mixers, camera robotics, graphic systems and prompters.
- Strong technical understanding and the ability to troubleshoot and work around operational issues.
- Experience working under pressure in breaking news situations while being a calm leader in the control room.
- Ability to work well and communicate effectively with others.
- Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) a plus

Salary range: $95,000 - $115,000
