We are looking for an experienced engineering manager with an eagerness for technology, people, projects, data and processes. Hardworking leaders with depth and breadth of technology experience who can encourage the team and guide it towards success.

What youll do
  • Lead and grow a team responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of New Relics data platform 
  • Coach and mentor a committed group of engineers so that they can develop further their personal and professional abilities and be engaged and motivated 
  • Drive technology decision making, process efficiency and engineering excellence 
  • Ensure the success of software projects through the planning and execution phases within and across teams Collaborate with multi-functional teams to align product and business goals 
  • Implement processes and methodologies that foster operational excellence
  • Serve as a domain expert in areas of data governance, transparency, and accuracy for New Relics consumption-based business model. 
  • Drive the recruitment, training, and development of top-tier talent in the region.
  • Responsible for the design, programming, construction, and implementation of new databases, as well as modifying existing databases for platform updates and changes in user needs.


This role requires
  • Strategic Vision: Develop and execute a forward-thinking strategy for our database engine, aligning with Newrelic’s business goals and technical vision.
  • Scalability and Performance: Architect and optimize the engine to handle exabyte-scale data while maintaining exceptional query performance.
  • Ingestion Efficiency: Enhance data ingestion pipelines to accommodate trillions of data points daily.
  • Query Optimization: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to fine-tune query execution and response times.
  • Reliability and Resilience: Ensure mission-critical cloud services operate with high reliability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery capabilities.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a talented team of engineers, fostering innovation and growth.
  • 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams, including leading managers and architects
  • 10+ years of experience in Software Engineering
  •  Ability to collaborate and partner across the organization to achieve shared goals
  •  Experience of building high-performing engineering teams
  •  Keenness to work with frameworks and platforms vs bespoke solutions
  •  Cultivating an inclusive and diverse environment enabling people to do their best work
  •  History of getting things done in a distributed, large-scale, and fast-growing equal-opportunity environment

 Technical Expertise:

  • Demonstrated experience in designing and evolving analytical database engines.
  • Proficiency in handling massive data volumes (exabytes) efficiently.
  • Strong grasp of query optimization techniques and performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and microservices.

Leadership Skills:

  • Proven track record in managing mission-critical cloud services.
  •  Ability to inspire and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Strategic thinker with a focus on long-term impact.

Reliability and Resilience:

  • Experience ensuring high availability, scalability, and fault tolerance.
  • Expertise in disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Passion for maintaining robust systems under demanding conditions.
Bonus points if you have
  • Experience with observability tools
