This role sits within the Finance organization of Northern Trust within our Asset Management Finance team. This team supports financial reporting, planning, and analysis for Northern Trust’s Asset Management business unit. This team partners closely with both business and Finance partners to ensure accurate financial reporting, a fact-based narrative around the business, and informed projections for the direction of the business going forward.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with the Northern Trust Asset Management business to develop financial projections to inform the firm’s monthly financial forecasts, annual profit planning cycle, and multi-year strategic planning.
- Evolve and drive efficiency in existing processes leveraging automation via Power BI / Power Query.
- Assist in monthly accounting close cycle, ensuring accuracy of financial reporting.
- Conduct ad hoc analysis to model the financial impact of new product offerings, pricing decisions, or product/channel expansion.
- Participate in the design of dynamic financial metrics reporting to track performance of the business.
- Explain financial results to business partners, helping them understand the levers available to impact their financial performance.
- Partner with external firms in industry-specific financial benchmarking surveys.
- Construct reporting on key performance indicators to track progress against firm’s strategic priorities for senior leadership.
Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail with a problem solving mindset.
- Strong relationship building skills with the ability to partner across the business and Finance functions.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to breakdown complex financial problems into relevant pieces.
- 5+ years relevant experience in Finance or Accounting.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
- Strong technical skillset with high proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience in Power BI, IBM Cognos, or other Business Intelligence tools.
- Experience in Data Analytics a plus.

Salary Range:
$83,100 - 141,300 USDSalary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
