In just four years, Octopus Electroverse has grown to become one of the largest eMobility players globally, with over 850,000 connected electric vehicle chargers and a customer ecosystem spanning web, iOS, Android, CarPlay, Android Auto & Automotive OS, and more.
But it’s just the start: we’re busy expanding internationally, working with more automotive and tech partners, building exciting new features at scale, and creating the integrated charging experiences of the future - all in the name of making public EV charging super simple for customers.
Electroverse is a multifunctional team made up of product, development, commercial, operations, marketing, partnerships and more - all focused on making Octopus Electroverse the go-to name in public EV charging. And we’re looking for smart individuals with an interest in the space who can help us make it happen.
This isn’t a traditional Strategy Manager role - you will be part of a rapidly growing clean-tech scale-up and do very little classic strategy, working instead on an exciting mix of commercial opportunities and partnerships to deliver diverse growth plans and identify new opportunities, with involvement from ideation through to execution.
You’ll be a strong generalist, comfortable engaging with internal and external stakeholders at different phases of implementation. Reporting into the Commercial Director of Electroverse, you’ll work alongside a multidisciplinary team to help ensure we stay at the forefront of a fast-paced industry in the midst of the EV transition. Whilst we’re not looking for a specific background, you’ll bring good commercial instinct, an understanding of customer experience and marketing principles, and a focus on delivery.
The eMobility industry and Electroverse as a product are rapidly expanding, and are a hugely important part of decarbonising the planet - you’ll have a key part to play from day one informing strategic decisions and supporting our capability to scale the business at pace.
What youll do:
- Collaborating with the leadership team to develop and model short and long term strategic plans
- Coordinating with cross-functional team members on large growth opportunities such as strategic OEM/Fleet partnerships to ensure that there is a seamless end-to-end experience through from pitching, negotiation and on to delivery and go-live
- Getting involved with supplier negotiations to ensure we have the best deals on the best solutions for our changing needs
- Analysing customer segments, market share and emerging opportunities to inform decision making
- Preparing and sharing data and forecasts for internal stakeholders to explain the performance and growth strategy for Electroverse
- Any other interesting challenges and opportunities which are thrown up along the way!
What you’ll need:
- Analytically and numerically confident, comfortable with building models, business cases and valuations
- Comfortable creating and shaping an idea from a “blank sheet of paper”
- Happy to operate autonomously in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with often minimal organisational structure or process
- Possibly an (ex-) top tier strategy consultant with entrepreneurial streak, or similar background, ideally with some experience in formal paper writing
- Naturally an 80/20 thinker – drawn to fast, simple solutions with an instinct to cut through the noise, but also able to get stuck into details when it counts
- Not afraid to ask for help, or to brainstorm with others, but also enjoys a high degree of autonomy and can be defined as a self-starter
- Excited and interested in deals and negotiation, and commercially creative
- Truly values-led, passionate about decarbonisation and the transition to electric vehicles
- A can-do attitude, with a bias for action and willingness to get stuck in
