Were now looking for a Head of Trading to lead our UK trading operations. This is a pivotal role, responsible for driving effective trading strategies to manage risk across UK energy markets, ensuring we remain competitive and deliver exceptional value to our customers.

What youll do...
- Develop and implement data-driven trading strategies to mitigate energy market risks across UK power, gas, and certificates. Leverage advanced analytics and energy market fundamentals to minimise exposures to price volatility and weather events
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of talented traders. Foster a collaborative and innovative environment that encourages excellence, continuous learning, and data-driven decision-making
- Work closely with the Risk, Forecasting, PPA, and Flex Trading teams to leverage advanced analytics and forecasts, developing trading tools and analytics to support hedging activities
- Work closely with the Risk team to explore use of demand-side flexibility, battery storage, weather derivatives, and energy options to hedge against market volatility, stress scenarios and optimise portfolio performance
- Ensure all trading activities comply with all relevant regulations and industry best practices
- Actively analyse trading performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement data-driven changes to strategies, processes, and team operations to achieve ongoing performance enhancement
What youll need...
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the UK energy market, including relevant electricity, gas, balancing markets, and the evolving regulatory environment
- Possessing strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proven experience in leveraging data analytics (Python and SQL). Proven ability to develop, interpret and respond to key performance indicators (KPIs) related to trading performance
- Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams within a data-driven environment
- Strong preference for candidates with proven experience managing energy portfolio risks including those with exposures to renewable generation (e.g. wind), interconnectors, and global gas markets
- Preference for candidates with expertise in utilising energy options and weather derivatives to hedge against market price volatility and weather-related risks
- Excellent communication skills to relay complicated concepts in a way that everyone can understand
- A strong belief in a clean energy future and a passion for leveraging data and technology to build a sustainable energy system
