Our mission at Oura is to empower every person to own their inner potential. Our award-winning products help our global community gain a deeper knowledge of their readiness, activity, and sleep quality by using their Oura Ring and its connected app. Weve helped millions of people understand and improve their health by providing daily insights and practical steps to inspire healthy lifestyles.
Empowering the world starts with living our values and empowering our team. As a quickly growing company focused on helping people live healthier and happier lives, we ensure that our team members have what they need to do their best work — both in and out of the office.
We are seeking an experienced Director of Revenue Accounting to manage all aspects of US GAAP revenue reporting for Oura Ring. This person will be responsible for designing and implementing revenue reporting processes that are compliant with US GAAP. The Director will work across multiple revenue streams (D2C, retail, B2B, Partnerships) and ensure that our revenue recognition processes are scalable, efficient, and aligned with industry standards. You will also manage a team, work cross-functionally with other teams such as legal and sales, and drive the implementation of accounting systems and tools to enhance operational efficiency. A key part of this role will involve working across geographies to implement process improvements and ensuring alignment with global teams.
We have offices in San Francisco and San Diego for those who prefer hybrid or office settings. Oura employees in other major cities (like Boston and New York) occasionally gather informally at local co-working locations.
What you will do:
- Own the revenue accounting function, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 and other relevant accounting standards.
- Oversee the month-end and quarter-end revenue close processes, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
- Develop, implement, and maintain revenue recognition policies and procedures to support business objectives.
- Partner closely with Sales, FP&A, Legal, and Operations to structure complex customer contracts in compliance with revenue recognition principles.
- Manage revenue accounting for a global multi-channel go-to-market strategy, including D2C, B2B, Retail, and Partnerships, handling complex revenue arrangements.
- Implement and maintain an internal control infrastructure across all revenue channels to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
- Lead the implementation and optimization of revenue recognition software and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Zuora), ensuring systems are scalable to accommodate the company’s growth and evolving business model.
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and scalability.
- Lead and develop a large, growing, and high-performing revenue accounting team.
- Prepare and present revenue-related analyses and reports to executive leadership.
- Collaborate with external auditors to support audit and compliance requirements.
We would love to have you on our team if you have:
- Experience working at a public company, particularly in a finance or revenue accounting leadership role, is strongly preferred.
- Prior experience working at a Big 4 accounting firm (e.g., Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG), with exposure to revenue accounting and audit processes, is highly desirable.
- Hands-on experience leading the implementation of revenue recognition and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Zuora).
- Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and internal controls related to revenue recognition.
- Experience working with complex revenue models, such as hardware + subscription bundles, SaaS, or recurring revenue arrangements.
- Proven ability to lead and develop teams.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
