Oura

San Francisco, CAUSRemote

Our mission at Oura is to empower every person to own their inner potential. Our award-winning products help our global community gain a deeper knowledge of their readiness, activity, and sleep quality by using their Oura Ring and its connected app. Weve helped millions of people understand and improve their health by providing daily insights and practical steps to inspire healthy lifestyles.

Empowering the world starts with living our values and empowering our team. As a quickly growing company focused on helping people live healthier and happier lives, we ensure that our team members have what they need to do their best work — both in and out of the office.

We have offices in San Francisco and San Diego for those who prefer hybrid or office settings. Oura employees in other major cities (like Boston and New York) occasionally gather informally at local co-working locations.

We are looking for an experienced Engineer Manager in the USA to join our growing Women’s Health team. In this role, you will manage a squad of 6-8 talented mobile app engineers and help the team develop innovations at the intersection of wearable technology and Women’s Health. You and your team will have a broad impact, not only across key company initiatives but also industrywide, by improving women’s body literacy and giving women’s bodies a voice.

What you will do:

  • Manage a team of Android and iOS engineers as they design, build, ship, and maintain Oura app features related to women’s bodies and women’s health.
  • Oversee and manage the development and delivery of highly technical cross-functional projects, while collaborating closely with engineering teams and colleagues in the EU.
  • Contribute to the planning and scoping of critical projects and own the execution and delivery of engineering efforts.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in Product, Design, Science, Research, Data Science, Regulatory, Marketing and other teams across our global organization.
  • Mentor your reports to help develop their skills and foster professional growth. You will take pride in guiding them through their careers.
  • Provide technical leadership to your team; while you may no longer write code, you are still deeply technical and will contribute to, and sometimes lead, technical discussions.
  • Evaluate trade-offs and make sound technical decisions that impact entire projects.
  • Champion engineering excellence, establish key metrics, and drive continuous operational improvements.

This is a remote US role with residency in the USA required. Our main US office is in San Francisco and we have another office in San Diego. We also have employee hubs in New York City, Boston, Los Angeles, Seattle, and more, which allows employees an opportunity to gather informally for occasional local co-working.

We would love to have you on our team if you have:

  • Minimum of 5+ years experience in software engineering, of which 2+ years were as a manager of software engineers.
  • Technical degree or equivalent software engineering work experience.
  • Experience shipping consumer-facing mobile applications and/or the systems that power them.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum processes and ability to advocate for process improvements.
  • Strong communication, project management, and delegation skills. Able to drive cross-functional projects from inception to product launch.
  • Strong people management skills. You proudly recognize achievements and successes and also do not hesitate to provide constructive feedback. You are also open to feedback and have a growth mindset.
  • Able to maintain a good work-life balance both for yourself and your team. You understand the significance of promoting well-being, managing workload, and creating an environment that supports a healthy balance between work responsibilities and personal life.
  • A passion for meeting the underserved needs within women’s health.

We also appreciate if you have:

  • 8+ years experience in software engineering, of which 4+ years were as a manager of software engineers.
  • Prior professional experience in either Android or iOS native app development (strongly preferred).
  • Experience delivering software products related to women’s health or wellness (strongly preferred).
  • Experience with FDA-regulated products or other regulated health industries.
  • Experience with wearable devices and/or machine learning algorithms.
  • Experience with complex projects that involve mobile, backend, data science, firmware and QA, while also acting as the team’s point of contact for release management to ensure timely production deployments.
  • Collaborative development experience working asynchronously with teams in different countries, time zones, and cultures.
