Position Summary:
At Pax8, we’re looking for a DevOps Engineer I who thrives on tackling new challenges, someone who’s not afraid to roll up their sleeves and dive into the details. You’re the type of person who doesn’t just wait for the next problem—you anticipate it, eager to find better ways of doing things. Whether you’re optimizing processes, troubleshooting critical systems, or pushing code updates with efficiency and precision, you bring a unique blend of IT and programming expertise. You’re passionate about security, automation, and keeping systems running smoothly and securely. With a strong sense of urgency and an insatiable curiosity to learn and improve, you’ll fit right into our fast-paced, forward-thinking team.
In this role, you’ll be at the intersection of problem-solving and infrastructure innovation, maintaining our tech stack while improving performance and supporting engineers. You’ll manage essential DevOps tasks like monitoring application performance, handling ticket triage, and blending hands-on release management and troubleshooting. With CI/CD expertise, you’ll optimize automated pipelines using tools like ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, and leverage your Kubernetes experience, ideally with Amazon EKS, or similar platforms like ECS, GKE, or AKS.
Beyond maintaining infrastructure, you’ll automate and build scalable solutions using tools such as Ansible, CloudFormation, Terraform, or Pulumi, applying Infrastructure as Code (IaC) techniques. You’ll take ownership of critical security tasks, ensuring robust IAM role management, encryption, and compliance. Your work will involve active participation in design discussions and collaboration across teams, identifying gaps, offering insights, and reducing missed opportunities in feature delivery.
Your background might lean towards IT, programming, or perhaps a mix of both, giving you a versatile approach to solving problems. You’re fluent in the language of CI/CD, understanding the tools and methodologies that drive continuous integration and delivery. Your hands-on experience with Kubernetes, particularly through EKS or similar platforms, makes you comfortable managing containerized environments. You’ve deployed infrastructure before and are proficient with IaC tools, knowing how to use automation to scale and maintain systems.
But it’s not just about the tech—you have an understanding of security principles, from managing IAM roles to ensuring proper encryption and keeping systems patched and up-to-date. Your proactive mindset means you’re not just waiting for instructions—you’re constantly looking for ways to learn, contribute, and move the needle forward.
