Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Engineer II to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of Java or Kotlin and Spring Boot, along with experience in both monolithic and microservice architectures. Additionally, a keen understanding of leveraging AI tools for programming is essential. As a member of the Platform Services team, you will drive numerous cross-functional services throughout Pax8. 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and robust platform solutions using Java or Kotlin and Spring Boot. 
  • Implement and manage microservices architecture to ensure efficient and reliable service delivery. 
  • Utilize AI tools to enhance coding efficiency, automate repetitive tasks, and improve overall software quality. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features. 
  • Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications. 
  • Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs. 
  • Help maintain code quality, organization, and automation. 
  • Mentor other team members and promote best practices. 

Ideal Skills, Experience, and Competencies:

  • At least seven (7) years of relevant software development experience
  • Advanced proficiency of a relevant programming language (Java, JavaScript, Kotlin, Go, and/or Python)
  • Proven experience as a Senior Platform Engineer or similar role. 
  • Effective technical leadership abilities
  • Ability to raise the technical bar for how we develop complex, scalable, and reliable systems
  • Proven experience working with distributed, highly available systems
  • Proficiency in a technical stack from infrastructure to application code
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with innovative application design and implementation
  • Effective problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Ability to step up to address difficult issues, saying what needs to be said
  • Ability to actively seek new ways to grow and be challenged using both formal and informal development challenges
  • Ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives
  • Ability to create new and better ways for the organization to be successful
  • Ability to consistently achieve results, even under tough circumstances
  • Ability to operate effectively, even when things are not certain, or the way forward is not clear
  • Ability to make sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems

Required Education & Certifications:

  • B.A./B.S. in related field or equivalent work experience

Compensation:

  • Qualified candidates can expect a compensation range between $155,000 to $195,000 or more depending on experience
