PrizePicks is looking for a Director of Government Affairs to help lead advocacy efforts with legislators and key stakeholders across the broader gaming ecosystem. The Director of Government Affairs will help manage a national roster of lobbyists while representing the company before elected officials, policy influencers, and industry counterparts. We are seeking a candidate with exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills and a background in law or government service. This role is remote and will report to the Senior Vice President of Public Affairs.

What you’ll do:

  • Represent PrizePicks before state legislators, regulators, governors, state attorneys general, and federal officials as needed.
  • Engage and work with industry partners and peers including casino operators, DFS peers, tribal gaming communities, and others.
  • Monitor and provide updates on legislative matters and advise company leadership with respect to policy challenges and opportunities.
  • Develop a nuanced understanding of PrizePicks’ DFS contests, growth strategy, and member community.
  • Manage external firms, lobbyists, trade associations, and other 3rd party groups on behalf of PrizePicks. 
  • Represent the company before national political organizations including Democratic and Republican campaign committees and entities such as the National Council of State Legislators.
  • Build and maintain close relationships with key stakeholders across the business and legislative landscapes while developing a strong knowledge base of industry happenings and trends.
  • Draft policy letters and documents for internal and external audiences.
  • Work with product and marketing teams on potential product expansion with key focus on building brand cohesion and acceptance in the regulatory space.

What you have:

  • Previous experience working with government and a strong grasp of gaming issues.
  • Strong work ethic, team-first and competitive mindset, and a passion to disrupt the status quo.
  • 4+ years experience in policy and/or law with strong analytical, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent understanding of the legislative process and state-by-state political landscapes. 
  • Ability to learn quickly with an aptitude for managing multiple projects across multiple jurisdictions
  • Strong understanding of policy and regulatory issues that impact fantasy sports
  • Able and qualified to pass key personnel submissions and background checks as part of gaming licenses in relevant jurisdictions.
  • Ability to communicate complex issues simply in writing and verbally for internal and external audiences of varying levels of familiarity within the sector.
  • Open to regular travel for stakeholder meetings, political organization conferences, relationship building, and industry events.

Where you’ll live:

  • While we prefer candidates based in California for this role, we are open to qualified applicants from anywhere in the U.S. and are willing to consider remote candidates.
