The PCIe software team is hiring talented embedded software engineers to develop PCIe and higher-level protocol drivers for next-generation mobile and compute platforms. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and debugging drivers in the Windows driver stack that interact with other chips and peripherals across the PCIe high-speed bus. Additional responsibilities are optimizing software for performance and power consumption, working closely with hardware and systems teams developing low-level software, and contributing to future chipset architecture. PCIe is rapidly becoming the high-speed interface of choice for compute & embedded systems of all kinds and we’d love to have you as part of the team!
Required Competencies(All competencies are required upon entry)

• Software Engineering - Knowledge of the overall process for developing new software. This includes knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of software engineering and other functions, major phases, checkpoints and deliverables. This also includes the ability to identify common issues and considerations for bringing a new product to the marketplace.
• Technical Troubleshooting - Knowledge of systematic approaches to solving common technical problems (e.g., hardware, software, application, operational). This includes the ability to identify problems and report and escalate problems according to established procedures. This also includes the ability to identify available resources for troubleshooting.
• Time Management - The ability to quickly prioritize mission-critical from less important or trivial work activities. This includes sensing what the next most useful thing is to work on, and focusing on the critical few tasks that add value while putting aside or delaying the rest.
Minimum Qualifications
- New grad to 4 years of experience in embedded software engineering
- Excellent skill in designing and developing with the C programming language
- Embedded software and real-time operating systems skills / knowledge
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Good communication skills and ability to work with a diverse range of software, hardware, and system engineers
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with PCIe, DMA, and high-speed interfaces is highly valued
- Experience debugging embedded software using in-circuit debuggers and simulators
- C#/C++/Python experience is valuable
- Exposure to writing software conforming to standards, e.g. PCIe
- Experience optimizing software for performance and power
- Ability to read and understand hardware schematics
Physical Requirements
- • Frequently transports between offices, buildings, and campuses up to ½ mile.
- • Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 5 lbs.
- • Performs required tasks at various heights (e.g., standing or sitting).
- • Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.
- • Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:
$94,200.00 - $141,200.00The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm.
