The Deal Management Strategy and Planning Team is looking for a Principal Strategy Consultant, Deal Pricing and Discounting to join the team. In this role, you will be responsible for pricing and discounting strategy to include being the responsible Red Hat expert-level SME to establish and manage a portfolio of deal discounting actions, relevant policies, discounting structures and their respective life cycles. You will also Establish and maintain cross-functional support resources to ensure a fully operational pricing and discounting action.

What you will do:

  • Identify and ensure the creation of program support materials including the program guide, supporting documentation, reviews, assessments, educational materials to ensure program success

  • Proactively identify and pursue ongoing improvement opportunities; develop and lead remediation initiatives; and assess and respond to improvement areas identified via deal scenarios and SME input

  • Advocate innovative predictive modeling and use of discounting tools and techniques to maintain stable but competitive market pricing

  • Conduct pricing and discounting reviews, monitor performance metrics and report on program health and outlook; and advocate best practices for seller and stakeholder visibility

  • Promote program understanding via information sessions with knowledge stakeholders and answering internal program terms inquiries

  • Establish collaborative relationships with relevant business unit leaders to develop product pricing and discounting strategies

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define objectives, conduct research, perform analyses, advocate solutions, create and present strategic plans and objectives, influence stakeholder engagement, monitor strategy performance for successful outcomes and instigate continuous improvement  strategies

  • Establish trusted working relationships, anticipate opportunities, and collaborate proactively with internal teams as a partner, trusted adviser, and advocate on behalf of the Deal Management to assess emerging offerings, policies, programs and associated materials and enablement requirements

  • Advocate, produce, and/or contribute to Deal Management functional resources (such as documentation, guidance, analyses, communication media, or other areas as requested) to ensure optimal Deal Desk related cross-functional associate performance and experience in the development, planning and delivery of deal management activities to support customer deals

  • Collaborate within Deal Management and cross-functional stakeholders, identify and lead development and remediation for program-level, offering, and component performance of ongoing Deal Desk deliverables to identify opportunities for growth, continuous improvements, gaps or other situational variables

  • Advocate and/or monitor analytics and measurement information and data on behalf of Deal Management and pursue business actions and recommendations to achieve performance objectives and improvements for functional and corporate alignment  

  • Leverage industry and technical knowledge and Deal Management frameworks to enforce the corporate policies and systems usage and approval frameworks and associated policies to ensure best deal outcomes

  • Proactively engage with Deal Desk Managers to understand current challenges and advocate within Deal Management and with cross-functional resources and stakeholders to address ongoing and emergent challenges

  • Engages on highly complex projects to independently prioritize and deliver deal management assignments using  advanced knowledge of strategy, planning, communication and analytical skills 

  • Serves at an advisory level and proactively raises critical subject matter for stakeholders and teams to conceptualize broad new approaches, improvements and enhancements to policy, process, controls, product, and systems knowledge to deliver strategic input, plans, related materials and outcomes. Supports continuous improvement team and cross-functional improvements and enablement efforts

  • Proactively initiatives and leads conversations and ideation to ensure comprehensive assessment of complex deals requiring multiple support inputs and management level inputs for functional and customer base  impacting issues.  If merited by business needs, may be eligible for team lead role

  • Mentors and provides guidance to established team members and colleagues

What you will bring:

  • Significant demonstrated strategic and planning capabilities around deal discounting and pricing function strategies, metrics, monitoring and their presentation. Able to leverage demonstrated strategic aptitude, systems thinking, business planning, and knowledge of organizational context to drive organizational success

  • 12+ years of related experience working in a high impact, dynamic, results-based execution or similar environment

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, technical, financial, operational or related field

  • Knowledge of business management areas contributing to successful strategic, planning, and deal outcomes such as sales, deal desk, deal negotiations, sales operations, order processing, fulfillment, revenue recognition, legal contracts, purchase orders, and license agreements

  • Excellent communication and influence skills (written, verbal, presentation, negotiation and diplomacy) and ability to engage across all levels of management, teams and customers 

  • Ability to manage, prioritize, make decisions and deliver multiple assignments with detail and precision while addressing ambiguity, changing conditions, and moving deadlines

  • Requires ability to deal with ambiguity and the corresponding capacity to make decisions or recommendations based on potentially incomplete information

  • Willingness and availability to travel on a per need basis

  • Fluent language skills in English

  • Related business, strategy, and technical certifications

The salary range for this position is $125,760.00 - $207,530.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
