Role and Responsibilities

The Lead DevOps Engineer will design, build, and run high-quality, non-impactful deployments to power Samsung.com. We do continuous integration/deployment to dev/test environments and multiple production releases per day. This highly technical position requires a broad set of technical skills, including deployment technologies, monitoring, scripting, networking, and infrastructure. Additionally, we pride ourselves on on-site availability, speed, and flexibility to accommodate business requirements.

This position requires working with many new technologies and applications. This could be a great fit for you if you thrive on solving hard and complex problems. One day, you might be in a DBA role, and the next day, troubleshooting Kubernetes issues, all while building capacity plans for the next Samsung product release.

  • Design, implement, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IAC) using tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to improve CI/CD pipelines and automate deployment processes.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot system performance, ensuring optimal resource utilization.
  • Implement and manage OpenSearch clusters for log analysis and monitoring.
  • Administer RDS PostgreSQL databases in a high-availability setup.
  • Manage Kubernetes clusters using Amazon EKS.
  • Ensure network configurations are robust and secure.
  • Continuously evaluate and implement best practices for security and compliance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and provide technical support.

Skills and Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field, and two years of experience in software/systems or related.
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in AWS cloud engineering and DevOps practices.
  • Strong expertise in AWS services and technologies.
  • Proficiency in infrastructure as code tools, especially Terraform and Ansible.
  • Extensive experience with Linux system administration.
  • Proficiency in managing OpenSearch clusters and RDS PostgreSQL databases.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and Amazon EKS.
  • Strong networking knowledge and experience in configuring VPCs, subnets, and security groups.
  • Scripting and programming skills (e.g., Python, Bash).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD).
  • AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer) are a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

The salary range for this role, for candidates based in NYC/California, is expected to be between $178,000 and $195,500.  Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.
