Job Description

Position Purpose: 

The Optics Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, and optimization of signaling optical systems, ensuring high performance, quality, and manufacturability. This role primarily focuses on automotive projects, contributing to the development of advanced lighting solutions for vehicles. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct optical simulations and analyses. 
  • Oversee and manage optical design projects, ensuring timely delivery. 
  • Ensure designs meet performance, quality, and manufacturability standards. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers. 
  • Maintain project timelines, budgets, and resource allocations. 
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in optical technologies. 
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in optical systems. 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to optical designs. 
  • Work closely with customers to understand their requirements and deliver tailored solutions. 
  • Prepare and present technical proposals, reports, and project updates. 
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality optical solutions. 
  • Contribute to product development strategies. 
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the manager. 

This role is ideal for a proactive and detail-oriented optics engineer passionate about automotive optical technologies. Freelancer applicants are preferred, with flexible work arrangements available. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in optical design and development. 
  • Proficiency in optical design software (e.g., ANSYS SPEOS, LucidShape, or similar). 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities. 
  • Experience with CATIA V5 is a plus. 
  • Knowledge of optical testing techniques and instruments (e.g., TDR, LL, ECE, FMVSS, AIS, CCC). 
  • English language proficiency at B1/B2 level.
