Job Description

Service Now’s Cloud Hardware team is responsible for the foundational HW designs across our cloud environment, touching all elements of cloud engineering.

The ideal candidate is passionate about the customer experience and service availability. We need someone who is uncompromising in delivery of high quality, scalable, and sustainable solutions. The successful candidate will have experience managing larger teams focused on technology. This role requires a critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills; we are looking for someone who embraces new challenges, is innovative, and is a great team player. Opportunity:

As the Director – Cloud Hardware Engineering, you will be responsible for driving a large, highly visible division of our Cloud Hardware organization.  Directing our architecture and engineering teams, you will develop and maintain strong partnerships with stakeholders, technical leaders, and business owners to deliver strategic organizational initiatives.

What you get to do in this role:

  • Drive a large team of technical engineers/architects responsible for the cutting-edge designs of HW infrastructure that powers our world-class SaaS platform.
  • Drive direction and ensure execution of foundational goals/OKRs.
  • Collaborate with peer teams on complex, global engineering efforts to ensure architecture agreement, resource coordination and implementation timelines.
  • Establish and maintain long-term mutually beneficial relationships with hardware OEMs.
  • Define department priorities with an eye on resource utilization, staffing needs, and long-term visions.
  • Reconciles multiple stakeholder views to drive business results.
  • Provide technical guidance for systems optimization opportunities and participate in architectural reviews.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you have:

  • Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AIs potential impact on the function or industry.
  • The ideal candidate will have understanding of the components of a cloud infrastructure including hardware platforms, OS, applications, databases, networks, web, and application servers. Prior experience in managing programs around large-scale server infrastructure at a cloud computing or MSP setting is highly desirable.  Candidate must have good communication skills and work well in an open, collaborative, dynamic team environment.
  • 10+ years’ management experience with at least 4 years dedicated to running a large engineering department as a senior manager level or higher.

  • Working knowledge of hardware and storage platforms, networking technologies, datacenter power distribution systems, cloud technologies, and capacity planning

For positions in this location, we offer a base pay of $217,500 - $380,700, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location. We also offer health plans, including flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) Plan with company match, ESPP, matching donations, a flexible time away plan and family leave programs. Compensation is based on the geographic location in which the role is located and is subject to change based on work location.
