Position Overview:

Siemens Mobility, Inc. is looking for an experienced Business Segment (BS) Controller for our Customer Service Business. In this role, you will be responsible for the profit and loss of Light Rail projects, Digital Services and Maintenance Innovation Business Segment by directing its accounting and financial functions.  This position can be based in Sacramento, CA or Lexington, NC working in a hybrid environment.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Ensure that all relevant commercial aspects are considered in all entrepreneurial decisions, bids and project execution.
  • Design and realize the BS strategic and business goals (including budgets) together with the BS Head.
  • Strive for the best results in growth, profit, FCF, EVA by effective performance of financial resources, excellent leadership, and people development. Responsible for leading Segment P&L.
  • Lead and execute the performance controlling for the BS, taking ownership for accurate accounting & reporting in compliance with relevant guidelines, as well as Month End Closing Activities and commercial KPI activities. Lead a team of Commercial Project Managers.
  • Guarantee transparent and up to date commercial information as basis for strategic and operational actions and decisions.
  • Continuously look for improvements to processes, systems and tools via robotics optimization.
  • Lead Commercial Bid and Project Managers in line with PM at Siemens, thereby applying guidelines and regulations of the company, including contracts/claim management and negotiations. This includes responsibility for financial/commercial management of contracts with customers, consortium partners, regional units and suppliers while improving the project profit and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead a proactive Risk Management and NCC-Management.
  • Optimize the Capital Allocation with a focus on minimizing Working Capital.

To thrive in this role, you have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business-related subject area.  In lieu of a Bachelors degree, education and proven strong Siemens relevant experience will be considered,
  • 10+ years of experience in finance and/or commercial project management,
  • Experience managing P&L and Balance Sheets,
  • Experience leading a team,
  • Ability to make recommendations based advanced root cause and alternative solution analysis,
  • Excellent commercial, verbal, and written communication skills; demonstrate presentation skills and versatility,
  • The ability to understand and articulate information to multiple partners is required in a fast paced and often dynamic work environment
  • Setting you apart from others would be a Master’s degree in accounting or finance with past business segment controller experience in a complex project business or launching new business lines along with commercial function in sales and commercial bid experience.

Siemens offers a variety of health and wellness benefits to employees.  Details regarding our benefits can be found here: https://www.benefitsquickstart.com/siemens/index.html.  The base salary range for this position in Sacramento, CA is $190,100-$257,000 and in Lexington, NC is $172,800-$233,800 and the annual incentive target is 20% of the base salary.  The actual salary/wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
