About the Team:
The team works on integrating IoT devices into the Samsung SmartThings platform. With the exponential growth of IoT devices over the past few years, we are building a dynamic platform to support these directly connected Audio/Video devices to make it easier for these devices to work with the SmartThings platform. We primarily use JVM technologies and a mix of the latest AWS service offering including EC2 and Kubernetes.

About The Role:
Were looking for a skilled Software Engineer with a passion for cloud technologies and a desire to work on a large-scale, consumer-facing platform. In this role, youll develop and maintain the services that connect our camera devices to SmartThings, using AWS services like EC2, Lambda, S3, and DynamoDB. Experience with distributed systems, AV streaming technologies, and supporting production-level cloud services is highly desired, as is strong API design and development experience. Key Responsibilities

This position is a hybrid role, based onsite 3 days a week at our office in Minneapolis, MN. 

In this role, your primary responsibilities will include the following: 
  • Develop and contribute to SmartThings platform to support Direct to Cloud/Edge Cameras such as 1st party and Matter Cameras.
  • Implement and maintain APIs and services to connect camera devices to SmartThings cloud.
  • Design, develop, and maintain services on AWS using technologies such as EC2, Lambda, S3, and DynamoDB.
  • Collaborate with other developers to create new features and improve existing functionalities.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving our development processes.
  • Contribute to the architecture and design of our services.
  • Proactively identify areas for improvement. 
  • Participate in on-call team rotation, requiring availability to respond to alerts and incidents outside of normal business hours.

Base compensation range for this position is $115,087 to $163,912. Actual base within this range will depend on many factors including experience, skills, technical expertise and market alignment. In addition, this role is eligible for a 20% annual target bonus based heavily on individual performance.
