About The Role 

We are seeking a Technical Program Manager (TPM) to lead our defect management process and ensure software defects are correctly triaged, tracked and resolved. This role will be focused on developing a data based approach to managing software defects, and working with engineering and product teams to address software defects to support delivery of high quality software. 

In addition to defect management, you will also help lead software and firmware development projects through the entire lifecycle, from requirements definition to production deployment. Your work will be highly visible, showcased in globally-delivered products and services.

The Technical Program Management team is a group of high performing, collaborative TPMs who excel at working with cross functional teams to deliver on SmartThings goals and initiatives. We’re passionate about bringing structure and organization to the ambiguous, and working with engineering and product teams to successfully deliver. 

Key Responsibilities

This position is a hybrid role, based onsite 3 days a week at our office in Minneapolis, MN. 

In this role, your primary responsibilities will include the following: 

Management of Software Defect Process (75%)
  • In support of our quarterly Hub and Client releases, manage the triage and tracking of software defects reported by our QA teams
  • Partner with engineering leadership to ensure defects are addressed in a timely manner; facilitate cross functional communication between engineering and test teams
  • Partner with Samsung TPM team to ensure a successful software rollout for each release; work closely with our counterparts in Korea to ensure high priority defects are addressed prior to rollout
  • Define key performance metrics for defect management at SmartThings and identify data to support. Set up tools and systems for tracking and reporting on this data 
  • Identify areas of improvement within the process and work with leadership to refine the process to address these issues
Technical Program Management, Development Projects (25%)
  • Provide program management leadership on cross functional development projects; ensuring adherence to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Facilitate cross functional team coordination
  • Track and report on program status to executive team, partners and other stakeholders, including progress, upcoming milestones and risks and mitigation plans 
  • Collaborate with the global Technical Program Management team to drive improvements in the program management practice area

Base compensation range for this position is $94,610 to $134,346. Actual base within this range will depend on many factors including experience, skills, technical expertise and market alignment. In addition, this role is eligible for a 15% annual target bonus based heavily on individual performance.
