The Sony Europe Development Centre (EUDC) in Oslo strive to maintain a global lead in imaging and become the worldwide leader in the field of sensing applications through integrated development, design and production of CMOS image sensors for Automotive products and industry.

We are seeking an Analog Validation Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will perform validation and characterisation of CMOS image sensors (CIS), and develop software (SW) tools and hardware (HW) for automation of CIS validation and characterisation, ensuring efficient chip design and performance. This role requires a blend of hardware testing and software development skills, with a focus on automation.

You will work in an international and diverse team, collaborate and interact with multi-disciplinary teams in Europe and Japan, and gain expertise and know-how on CMOS image sensors with full access to Sony resources.

You will:

  • Perform silicon validation of CMOS image sensors (CIS).
  • Perform measurements of image quality (IQ) characteristics.
  • Collaborate with the design teams to debug issues identified from validation.
  • Prepare test setup to facilitate efficient testing and measurements (e.g. by automation).
  • Develop SW tools (e.g. Python) to support the automation of CIS testing and measurements.
  • Tuning of CIS parameters (e.g. register settings) to achieve optimal image quality characteristics.
  • Prepare and release register settings to internal teams in Sony and support their requests.
  • Quality assurance (QA) of register settings (e.g. by regression testing).
  • Prepare and publish reports on validation results.
  • Organize review meetings to present validation results.

You will bring:

  • BSc/MSc/PhD Electrical Engineering or equivalent;
  • Academic Background: Technical, Electronics, Semiconductor, Physics, Computer science, Robotics
  • Experience with SW and automated test development (e.g. Python).
  • Experience with testing and measurement of electronic circuits.
  • Experience with PCB design.
  • Experience with circuit implementation in industry or academia (CMOS image sensor experience is preferred).
  • English speaking and preferred additional languages such as Norwegian and Japanese.
  • Experience in working with diverse, multi-functional, and remote teams.
