Organizational Overview:

This role will be part of the Data Architecture & Analytics group part of CTO organization.

  • Data team is responsible for designing and developing scalable data pipelines for efficient data ingestion, transformation, and loading(ETL).

  • Data team owns and manages different tools platforms which provides an environment for designing and building different data solutions.

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate new data sources and ensure data quality and consistency.

  • Building and maintaining data models to facilitate data access and analysis by Data Scientists and Analysts

Role Summary/Purpose:

We are looking for an strong Individual contributor, Ab Initio Platform Engineer, to be part of Data Platform for the mission critical and low latency analytic environment leveraging Big Data technologies and AWS services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain Ab Initio clusters in Hadoop environment across on-premise and cloud – production, DR and non-production.

  • Administer the Ab Initio Product Suite ( Co>Op system, Acquire>It, Control Center, Metadata Hub, Authentication Gateway) on Linux operating system.

  • Handle all Ab Initio environments, security, cluster setup, performance tuning and ongoing monitoring.

  • Perform Ab Initio cluster maintenance with patching, Co>Op upgrade, EME backup/recovery, user provisioning, automation of routine tasks, troubleshooting of failed jobs, configure and maintain security policies.

  • Upgrade Ab Initio cluster to latest version that includes all the bug fixes, security enhancements and new features

  • Work on support cases and resolve the user issues.

  • Identify product related issues and work with vendors to have them fixed

  • Identify infrastructure related issues such as disk failures and work with Infra teams to fix

  • Work on new component exploration and proof of concepts

  • Automation of manual tasks through Ab Initio/shell scripts

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Experience in Ab Initio administration with latest Co>Op system and Ab Initio products (like Acquire>It, Control Center, Metadata Hub, Authentication Gateway).

  • Significant experience with and knowledge of Big Data technologies such Hadoop, Hive, HDFS, different data file formats, NoSQL engines.

  • Exposure to Public CLoud platforms and understanding of various Cloud Services

  • Knowledge of basic Linux Administration.

  • General operational expertise such as good troubleshooting skills, understanding of system’s capacity, bottlenecks, basics of memory, CPU, OS, storage, and networks. Day to day tasks

  • Good verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment and present and explain technical information and provide advice to management.

  • Experience on DevOps CI/CD pipelines for code deployments

Desired Skills/Knowledge:

  • Good to have understanding and knowledge on IaaS tools like Terraform and Ansible

  • Good to have knowledge on S3 buckets, Redshift and other AWS components

  • Good to have experience with Okta and Active Directory

  • Good to have understanding on EKS/Kubernetes

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or similar technical field of study with minimum 4+ years of technology experience Or in lieu of degree 6+ years of technology experience.

  • Minimum 4+ years of financial services experience

  • Minimum 4+ years of experience managing Data platforms.

  • Ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships at all levels across IT and the business.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, along with a strong ability to lead and influence others.

  • Experience working iteratively in a fast-paced agile environment.

  • Demonstrated competency linking business strategy with IT technology initiatives

  • Proven track record of leading and executing on critical business initiatives on-time and within budget.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive change and work effectively across business and geographical boundaries.

  • Expertise in evaluating technology and solution engineering, with strong focus on architecture and deployment of new technology

  • Superior decision-making, client relationship, and vendor management skills.

Work Timings: 3 PM to 12 AM IST

(This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
