Role Title: AVP, Senior Security Data Engineer II (L11)

Organizational Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Security Data Engineer to join our team. Our mission is to strengthen our security posture by building a robust security data lake to supplement our Splunk Environment. This Role will be critical in onboarding new datasets into our data lake and constructing a scalable and highly consumable data warehouse for infosec using AWS services.
Role Summary/Purpose:
The TITLE role is responsible for building a data lake and data warehouse using AWS Services.
This position is remote, where you have the option to work from home. On occasion we may request for you to commute to our nearest office for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and culture events. We’re proud to offer you choice and flexibility.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines to collect, process and analyze security data.
Work with Cribl to onboard new sources and route data to S3.
Develop and optimize ETL workflows using AWS Glue and other relevant tools.
Implement data warehouse solutions using platforms such as Redshift.
Utilize SQL, Python, and JavaScript for data manipulation, automation, and analysis.
Leverage infrastructure-as-code tools like terraform to deploy and manage cloud resources
Collaborate with security and engineering teams to ensure the integrity, security, and accessibility of the data lake.
Develop dashboards and visualization tools to enhance security insights
Continuously assess and improve data pipeline efficiency, scalability, and security.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 6+ years of either Technology or Process Management experience, OR in lieu of a degree, 8+ years of either Technology or Process Management experience.
Minimum 2 years of experience working with modern data warehouse solutions such as Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery
Proficiency in SQL, Python, and Javascript
Hands-on experience with AWS services such as S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda, Athena, and ETL.
Understanding of Infrastructure as code (Terraform)
Ability to work with large datasets and optimize data workflows for performance and scalability
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a passion for data.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Desired Skills/Knowledge:
Prior experience in information security, security analytics, threat hunting, or security engineering
Experience with security logging, event correlation, and SIEM platforms like Splunk or ELK
Familiarity with data visualization tools for security analysis
Knowledge of security best practices for data storage and processing.
Eligibility Criteria:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 6+ years of either Technology or Process Management experience, OR in lieu of a degree, 8+ years of either Technology or Process Management experience.
Work Timings :
This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
