Job Description:
Role Summary/Purpose:
We are looking for a Cloud Solution Architect to drive the architecture of our analytics cloud environment at Synchrony. This individual will support both our migration efforts as well as new business opportunities in the public cloud. The role consists of technical leadership and mentorship in a fast-paced, dynamic, and challenging work environment, and will play an important role in our data and analytics journey at Synchrony.

Essential Responsibilities:
Responsible for the architecture of secure, resilient, performant, and efficient infrastructure in the cloud.
Develop a deep understanding of business needs/opportunities, operational opportunities, and of other factors that will inform prescriptive architecture.
Partner with business stakeholders, architects, and technology teams to understand requirements to design solutions that meet immediate needs and align with our broader vision.
Regularly assess business strategy and trends to ensure alignment with architecture roadmap and address any potential gaps.
Collaborate with teams and key stakeholders to migrate legacy analytic environments effectively and efficiently to the cloud.
Devise strategies and architectures to optimize consumption of cloud resources.
Contribute to data architecture policies, standards, and procedures and promote adherence across the organization to drive compliant and impactful solutions.
Create artifacts through various mediums to effectively communicate complex architecture and approaches to target audiences.
Provide architectural expertise and domain knowledge to advise and guide senior leaders.
Work closely with Product Owners, Product Managers, Program Manager, Scrum Masters and Team Members in a Scaled Agile framework.
Continuously learn and be at the leading edge of cloud practices and industry trends
Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelors degree with minimum of 8 years of experience in Information Technology OR in lieu of the bachelors degree minimum of 10 years of experience in Information Technology in a hands-on technical role.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in data warehousing, data architecture, data quality process, modeling, and business system designs.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the development of large enterprise platforms.
Detailed knowledge of cloud foundational components such as identity and access management (IAM), security, governance, and compliance.
Extensive experience with big data tools in the cloud, including data warehousing.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, along with a strong ability to lead and influence others.
Ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships at all levels across IT and the business up to date on current technologies in big data & data science space.
Agile experience using JIRA or similar Agile tools.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with globally located Agile teams working in different shifts.
Desired Characteristics:
Prior work experience in a credit card/banking/fintech company
Well versed in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Similar) and familiarity of software solutions for containerized and micro services based eco-systems.
Proficiency in cloud automation and orchestration tools and techniques.
Experience building environments for or working with data-driven models.
Experience dealing with sensitive data in a highly regulated environment.
Demonstrated implementation of complex and innovative solutions.
Grade/Level: 12
The salary range for this position is 130,000.00 - 210,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements:
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
