VP, Treasury - Payment Systems Product Manager

Job Description:
Role Summary/Purpose:
As a Payment Systems Product Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing the roadmap for Synchrony’s Payment Hub. The Payment Hub is a single, self-clearing, bank processing and servicing gateway for Synchrony’s inbound and outbound funds movement transactions. This role requires a strategic leader and hands-on executor who can effectively translate business needs into back-end payment solutions while navigating a highly matrixed corporate environment.

Essential Responsibilities:
Roadmap & Strategy:
- Support development of the roadmap for the Payment Hub’s products and services.
- Define and implement Objectives & Key Results - OKRs to measure success and ROI.
- Champion and remain apprised of industry insights, best practices and market analysis. Research, analyze and develop the business case for new products or components.
- Partner with stakeholders as needed to identify new growth opportunities.
- Identify and champion initiatives to leverage existing capabilities to reduce operational costs while enhancing customer satisfaction.
Product Development & Execution:
- Lead Agile product development, from strategy and planning to execution, ensuring payment solutions enhance customer experience, deliver scalable solutions and drive business impact.
- Oversee the implementation of new technology solutions, including third-party integrations, new partnerships, and internal innovations.
- Collaborate with process owners to document current and future state wing-to-wing payment processes and identify functional requirements, facilitating process mapping sessions as needed.
Stakeholder Management & Leadership:
- Collaborate and influence key internal and external stakeholders, including senior executives and cross-functional teams, to drive alignment and execution and ensure all releases incorporate necessary controls, requirements and risk mitigation strategies.
- Lead and mentor product owners and scrum masters, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, execution excellence, and customer-centricity.
- Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelors degree OR in lieu of degree; high school diploma/GED and 10+ years of experience in product management within financial services, fintech, or commercial banking.
- 5+ years of experience in product management within financial services, fintech, or commercial banking.
- 3+ years leading strategy & execution for the backend development of payment products and services
- Strong executive presence with exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Desired Characteristics:
- Proven success in leading, initiating and/or establishing payment hub initiatives within complex organizations.
- Experience with back-end operations and functional requirements for multiple payment methods (i.e., ACH, wire, instant payments, etc.) and their associated file formats or rules (i.e., NACHA, ISO20022, SWIFT, etc.)
- Experience implementing payment products and services with third parties, including implementations with direct connections to the Federal Reserve and/or The Clearinghouse.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements (AML, KYC, PCI-DSS, OCC and CFPB regulations).
- Background in customer experience strategy, research, and competitive benchmarking.
- Proactive, self-starter with a high degree of self-initiation
- Demonstrated strong quality/process improvement experience, with relevant examples that improved business performance and customer experience
- Advanced problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize disparate and/or complicated requirements into innovative solutions and cohesive product features within a virtual environment.
Grade/Level: 12
The salary range for this position is 110,000.00 - 185,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements:
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
