The Virtual Production Institute (VPI), recipient of $25 million in funding from the State of Texas, is seeking a Virtual Production Assistant Director to oversee all technical aspects of virtual production. In this emerging field, you will play a vital role in the seamless management and coordination of virtual production projects. Your responsibilities include leading production efforts, overseeing project management, and handling technical integration. You will ensure that the creative vision is achieved by supervising the virtual production process and coordinating between various departments for timely and efficient execution of tasks. Additionally, you will manage real-time rendering, operate virtual cameras, and troubleshoot technical issues to guarantee seamless integration between virtual and physical environments. Your proficiency in real-time engines like Unreal Engine, along with a solid understanding of 3D rendering and asset management, will promote your success in this role.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Six years of related experience in virtual production, film technology, or similar technical production role
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in related field
Advanced knowledge of Unreal Engine, including Blueprints, Tracking systems, and LED Technology
Advanced knowledge of movie lighting and stage rigging
Excellent project management and team leadership skills
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Expertise in live-action cinematography, cinema cameras, film back, aperture, shutter, and FOV
Proficiency with Maya/Blender and visual effects pipeline
Strong understanding of RedSpy Tracking system and software
Experience with video hardware, signals, and video engineering
Computer literacy with Linux, MAC, and Windows systems
Experience with robotic cameras and cranes
Knowledge of spreadsheet and database applications.
Knowledge of management development programs and implementation, budget oversight, and strategic planning.
Demonstrated experience in Unreal Engine and related technology
Proven experience in feature films or television virtual production
Technical planning experience including techvis and pre-viz
Ability to work beyond normal office hours and/or on weekends;Travel is required.
Ability to work in studio environment may require lifting and moving technical equipment
