The Role
The Honest Company is excited to announce a search for a Staff Accountant! In this role, youll primarily focus on inventory accounting while also gaining exposure to various areas of accounting. You’ll be responsible for processing accounting transactions, preparation of reconciliations, providing ad hoc analysis, maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, and providing general accounting support to the Inventory Accounting Manager. We’re looking for a highly organized, accountable (pun intended) team player who operates with efficiency, urgency, and discipline.
What you’ll do:
- Prepare journal entries related to inventory and cost of revenue, including shipping accruals, tariffs, rebate accruals, and packaging expense to support the month-end close process
- Assist with preparation of overhead allocations and product allocations
- Support annual physical inventory count and reconciliation to general ledger (annual travel required)
- Perform various inventory-related accounting tasks, such as reconciling inventory between systems and monitoring inventory cost/valuation
- Support quarterly reviews and year-end audit by preparing schedules that support COGS and inventory-related trends and balances
- Prepare monthly variance analysis for inventory and cost of revenue accounts, including research of drivers of variances
- Assist with other general accounting tasks and cross-functional projects to broaden your expertise and support team goals.
- Prepare/assist with any other ad hoc analysis or analytics as needed
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or finance
- 1 to 3 years of experience in an accounting role including inventory accounting
- Solid understanding of US GAAP, general accounting processes, internal controls, and financial analysis tools
- Proficient in Excel, including advanced formulas and pivot tables
- Strong team player who thrives in a in a fast-paced, changing environment

- Experience with top tier ERP and related reporting applications
Compensation
The pay range for this role is $65,000 - $80,000. Actual compensation is based on many factors including but not limited to depth of experience, skill level, ability, knowledge, education, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
The total rewards package for this position may also include base, annual incentive plan, benefits, retirement plan, equity, and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
