About the Team:
Chemical Market Analytics by OPIS, a Dow Jones company, enables stakeholders in the global chemical industry to improve operational efficiency with deep insights, future outlooks, price discovery and consultation from a celebrated team of subject matter experts. We offer short- and long-term market coverage for more than 200 core building-block chemicals with a full suite of advisory services and top-tier events held around the globe. The worldwide chemical industry looks to Chemical Market Analytics to guide decisions and help manage risk across the entire value chain.
About the Role:
As a junior reporter, you will work with our senior editors to collect and analyze trade data to provide daily assessments for the Canadian and West Coast (United States) physical natural gas liquids (NGL) spot markets. In addition to providing market coverage, you will be trained to cover various editorial duties and meet required deadlines. You will report to Journalism Director.
You Will:
- Support the current editorial team with covering and assessing the Canadian and West Coast NGLs physical spot markets
- Familiarize yourself with all NGL physical spot market activity
- Understand and promote the OPIS NGL suite of products offered
- Write and edit news alerts and market commentary
- Collect data and market feedback, understand fundamentals and/or breaking news, and analyze pricing trends to integrate into market commentary
- Assist in compiling and publishing OPIS reports and meeting multiple daily and weekly deadlines
- Meet and network with current sources and resources, as well as develop new sources
- Attend industry events and conferences as needed
You Have:
- Undergraduate degree in Energy, Journalism, Business, Data Scienc, or related area of study -OR- equivalent work experience
- Experience with Microsoft PowerBI, Tableau, Jupyter Notebook and Python (preferred)
