Position Description:

The Manager of Sponsored Programs Administration will work with the accounting team as well as both the grants administration and contracts teams to provide high quality support to the University of Louisville Office of Sponsored Programs Administration as well as to university faculty, unit business managers and external sponsors. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance and proper fiscal management of externally funded sponsored projects via the application and interpretation of university and funding agency rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Responsibilities include but are not limited to grant account activations, grant billing, financial reporting, grant closeouts, training other accounting team members. The person in this position will have excellent communication and customer service skills as well an independent judgment and discretion in the management of awards from a multitude of sponsors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain an active portfolio of awards that require establishment/management within the financial system including but not limited to activation; billing; collection, financial reporting and closeout.

  • Perform quality control reviews of data entered into the financial system to ensure compliance and data integrity of the financial system.

  • Manage a team of accountants and provide guidance in their portfolio.

  • Clean up the awards in their own portfolio and make sure that the accountants under their supervision are doing the same.

  • Identify the need for training and improvements of staff members.

  • Assist in revision of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), policies as needed.

  • Approve JV/PET, for their direct accountants.

  • Propose Close outs/AR write off/Bed debt for the team’s portfolio.

  • Provide backup to SPFA service account and other operational areas as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Job duties might be subject to change as Workday Financials get implemented.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Accountancy, or Finance.

  • Experience in grant and contract accounting management and reporting and compliance associated with federal and/or state government awards and contracts.

  • Experience in LOC federal draws

Target Compensation Maximum:

$98,100.00

Target Compensation Minimum:

$65,400.00

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
