Position Description:
The University of Louisvilles Office of Sponsored Programs Administration & Compliance is seeking a Research Grants Accountant II or III. The position will be filled at the level as determined by education, experience, and qualifications of the candidate. Reporting to the Senior Director of Sponsored Programs (Research Accounting), the Research Grants Accountant II/III will be a critical team member responsible for supporting the implementation, rollout, and stabilization of the Workday Finance system and will partner with business and research stakeholders to identify needs and requirements and to facilitate the delivery of an integrated and highly functioning Workday grants module. Seeking a candidate with knowledge of grant/sponsored program accounting processes and best practices, along with excellent technical and problem-solving abilities. This position will assist with Workday configuration, integrations, data conversion, testing, training, reporting, and post go-live support to help ensure a smooth transition from the legacy accounting system to Workday Finance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist Senior Director, Research Accounting and Workday implementation team with all aspects of the Workday Finance design, strategy, and implementation as it relates to the management of grants/sponsored programs. Actively participate in the discovery, implementation, testing, and operationalization phases of the Workday implementation. Assist with oversight of the implementation timeline and milestones.
Partner with Sponsored Programs Accounting staff and other stakeholders to gather and prioritize needs and requirements and support the development of an effective Workday Finance solution. Analyze business needs and recommend solutions that align with sponsored programs operations, business strategy, and compliance standards. Support the Senior Director in architecting the Workday Finance grant solution to ensure cross functional impacts are considered and mitigated.
Leverage business knowledge to identify opportunities for process improvements. Assist with the translation of business requirements into complex system configurations. Develop and maintain relevant documentation to facilitate implementation and go-live.
Assist with the design and configuration of the Workday Finance grants module, and provide input on integrations, data conversion, reporting, security, and testing for the Workday Finance implementation. Support Senior Director, Workday implementation partner, and other stakeholders in developing Workday integrations with critical research systems (e.g., Cayuse and core facility software).
Help develop, deliver, and monitor progress of customized test scenarios for integrations and conversion and track defect resolution in alignment with the testing strategy.
Assist Senior Director in facilitating a smooth transition from legacy system to the Workday Finance solution, including the facilitation of sponsored programs data conversion. Assist with the continued pre go-live clean-up of the sponsored programs portfolio via proactive closeout initiation.
Assist in rolling out Workday Finance solution to campus, including research stakeholder training, with a strong focus on operational efficiency and fiscal compliance. Post go-live, research, propose, and assists with the implementation of Workday Finance system enhancements that will improve functionality for the sponsored programs research accounting team and research stakeholders.
Support the development of Workday Finance training as it relates to Sponsored Programs. Facilitate Sponsored Programs Accounting Team’s readiness for cutover and operationalization and provide post go-live support.
Participate in the design and development of reporting solutions as required for Sponsored Program Accounting users and campus stakeholders.
Provide post go-live support, facilitating system issue resolution and maintaining alignment between business processes and system configurations. Investigate new system functionality and determine impact to organization and system configurations. Provide customer-centered incident management and collaboration with other functional areas to ensure customer centered incident management and support for research stakeholders.
Post operationalization and hyper care phase, perform standard duties of Research Grants Accountant II/III; including grant set-up, billing, collections, payment application, financial reporting, and closeout.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters Degree in Business Administration, Accountancy, or Finance
Experience with financial/accounting systems, including implementation initiatives.
Grade 6 (Hourly)
Target Compensation Maximum: $39.79
Target Compensation Minimum: $26.51
Grade 7 (Salaried)
Target Compensation Maximum: $87,300
Target Compensation Minimum: $58,200
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
