What youll do: Embed with a cross-functional team trying to improve a specific part of Yelp’s product and become a subject matter expert in that area. You’ll provide the analytical backing for tactical decisions and broad-reaching strategy. Lead analytics projects core to Yelp’s business, communicate key insights to decision makers, and help product leaders uncover new opportunities. In short, excel at connecting business context to statistically sound analysis. Manage tight deadlines and quickly iterate on analyses to answer business questions, deliver actionable learnings, and make strategic recommendations. Design, execute, and analyze business and user experiments to improve Yelp’s products. Think critically about experimental design and advocate for thoughtful experimentation. Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Design to define and track Yelp’s key product metrics, opportunity size new initiatives, and improve Yelp’s current product ecosystem. Generate dashboards and automate reports that empower teams across the organization to make data-driven decisions. Grow and maintain impactful relationships with stakeholders of both technical and non-technical backgrounds with clear and frequent communication. What it takes to succeed: BA/BS or graduate degree, ideally in a quantitative field (mathematics, statistics, economics etc.) 2-4 years of relevant industry experience (ideally within a consumer product or ads space) Strong SQL skills and proficient in Python to manipulate large data sets. An eye for compelling data visualization. Experience with related tools (Tableau, Mode, Looker, etc.) is a plus. Understanding of statistical inference, experimental design and analytic bias. Professional experience in A/B testing is a plus. Comfortable using Excel / GSheets for data analysis and compiling results. Strong communication skills used to translate between complex data analysis and coherent, compelling insights and recommendations. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with people from a wide range of technical abilities and levels of leadership.
