The Role
As an Engineering Manager – Platform Engineering at Fanatics, you will lead a team responsible for building and evolving the foundational platform that powers our technology ecosystem. You’ll report to the Director of Platform Engineering and play a key role in defining the team’s vision, fostering technical excellence, and driving initiatives that enhance developer experience, scalability, and reliability.
This is an opportunity to shape the Fan Ecosystem Platform, working across cloud infrastructure, site reliability practices, and developer tooling. Your leadership will directly impact how engineering teams at Fanatics build, deploy, and operate their services.
What You’ll Do
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Define and execute the team’s roadmap, balancing long-term strategic goals with immediate platform needs.
- Drive improvements to developer experience, ensuring that teams have the tools, automation, and infrastructure to move fast with confidence.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of scalable CI/CD pipelines and GitOps-based deployment workflows.
- Partner with engineering teams to improve system reliability, observability, and operational excellence.
- Build strategic relationships with internal stakeholders across engineering, product, and leadership to align platform priorities with business objectives and drive adoption of platform capabilities.
- Provide clear communication of technical strategy, roadmaps, and key initiatives to executives and other stakeholders.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends to ensure our platform remains modern and competitive.
What We’re Looking For
- 7+ years of experience in technical/engineering industries
- 3+ years leading engineering teams.
- Experience developing and maintaining developer platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation.
- Experience with cloud-native development, including AWS, Kubernetes, and container orchestration, is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Go or Java is preferred. Familiarity with Python or Kotlin is a plus.
- Strong proponent of Agile software methodologies and architectural best practices.
- Strong understanding of observability (metrics, logging, tracing) and incident management best practices.
- Experience formulating a team’s technical strategy and roadmap; you’ve collaborated and partnered effectively with several other teams to execute on shared goals.
- Experience balancing tactical needs with strategic growth and quality-based initiatives that can span multiple quarters.
- A data-driven approach to decision-making, with a focus on measurable outcomes.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to both engineering and executive audiences.
- Positive and flexible attitude to work in a fast-paced environment and a willingness to embrace new initiatives. Experience in start-ups is a plus.
- Experience managing remote and distributed teams is strongly preferred.

The salary range for this position is $144,000 to $282,000 which represents base pay only and does not include short-term or long-term incentive compensation. When determining base pay, as part of a final compensation package, we consider several factors such as location, experience, qualifications, and training.
